The Insight Wisdom Center is the educational arm of Insight Counseling & Wellness. We design continuing education programs that help therapists, healthcare providers, and leaders integrate psychotherapy, neuroscience and somatic practices. Hearing Distressing Voices Training

A 4-hour training for mental health professionals
Join us for a training and simulation experience where, using headphones, you will get a glimpse into the experience of navigating everyday life while hearing voices. This training was created by individuals with lived experience of hearing voices with the goal of helping others understand their experience.
Disclaimer:
This training will allow participants to experience what it is like to live with distressing voices. This can be a very distressing experience for some individuals. This training is not appropriate for anyone with lived experience with voice hearing, dissociation, or any other altered reality experiences. 
Learning objectives:
    • Understanding clinical and recovery perspectives.
    • Enhancing communication and support strategies.
    • Building empathy and reducing stigma.

Credit: Four hours of continuing education units through NBCC are available for mental health providers who complete this training.

Emily received her MA from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and works as a Service Facilitator in the CCS Program in Dane County. Emily is passionate about harm-reduction focused care and strives to provide a safe and inclusive space for everyone, especially for clients in the LGBTQIA+ community. 

Incorporating Yoga Tools into Therapy

Support nervous system healing in your mental health practice
Learn practical skills to integrate trauma-informed yoga techniques into psychotherapy. Participants in this 6-credit-hour training will explore how trauma impacts the nervous system, with a focus on understanding dysregulation and the role of the autonomic nervous system in trauma responses. This workshop introduces the core principles of trauma-informed yoga and how these principles support emotional regulation and healing.
Learning objectives:
  • Explain how trauma impacts the nervous system.
  • Summarize key components of trauma-informed yoga.
  • Evaluate for appropriate clinical application of 1-3 interventions, including breath, postures and meditation .
  • Teach these techniques in a trauma-informed manner to clients.

Presenter: Claire Tseng, LCSW

Claire is a licensed clinical social worker who practices from the belief that all humans are worthy of safety and belonging. She aims to create a non-judgmental and welcoming environment that allows for a safe and equal relationship between therapist and client. As a yoga instructor trained in trauma-informed practices, Claire believes in the inherent wisdom of the body and incorporates body-based options in her clinical practice. 

Yoga for Disordered Eating

A 6.5-hour training for clinicians
In this experiential 6.5-hour training, we will explore somatic interventions in the treatment of disordered eating, from an anti-diet, health-at-every-size approach. We will look at the harmful impacts of diet culture and identify yoga-based practices for recovery.
Learning objectives:
    • Understand how yoga tools can support recovery from disordered eating.
    • Differentiate between yoga as exercise vs. yoga as a therapeutic adjunct.
    • Recognize how trauma impacts the nervous system and eating behaviors.
    • Identify yoga-based practices for regulation, safety and embodiment.
    • Use yoga in tandem with self-compassion to address shame and inner criticism.

Jeanne is the founder of Insight Counseling & Wellness, an outpatient mental health clinic in Madison that incorporates somatic interventions into mental health care. Jeanne is also a Certified Intuitive Eating Pro with more than 10 years of experience facilitating groups and workshops on managing emotional eating and body image concerns.

EMDR

Angela Schueffner, LMFT, is now offering EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) consultation services at Insight Counseling & Wellness for clinicians who have completed EMDR basic training.

The following groups are hybrid — in person at 1943 Winnebago St. in Madison and virtual:

Group consultation (up to 6 people) = $45 per session
Individual consultation = $125 per hour

Please contact Angela for interest in individual consultation or consultation for EMDR certification (group and/or individual). Scheduling will be done based on mutual availability. If seeking certification, you do not need to complete all 20 hours with Angela. But you do need to complete a minimum of 5 hours with her if you are interested in a letter of support to submit with your EMDRIA certification packet. There is no hourly limit to other consultation services.
